Bio

Tamar Messer Tamar Messer is a graduate and lecturer at The WIZO Haifa Academy of Design and Education in Haifa, Israel. She worked for many years as an illustrator with the popular Israeli newspapers, Yediot Achronot and Ma'ariv.

Tamar is the owner of a studio and art gallery in Haifa. Her connection to Israel and her need to paint and to express her inner world of images has pointed her toward Biblical texts and Judaism. Her illustrations are interpretations of Biblical and traditional texts which reflect the landscape and colors of Israel.

In the last few years, Tamar's work has been exhibited in shows across the US. She recently published collector's editions of a Passover Haggadah, The Song of Songs and the Scroll of Ruth. She has also published her own editions of The Book of Ecclesiastes and The Scroll of Esther. Tamar's works are found in some of the most prestigious collections in the US including The Jewish Museum in New York, the Congress Library, the Judaica collection of Harvard and Yale Universities and The Jewish Theological Seminary. www.tamarsgallery.co.il
