Bio

I have lived and worked in New York City all of my life. I am a first-generation woman whose entire family worked in the garment industry. Because I think one doesn’t go far from their beginnings I believe my artwork honors my family by making use of clothing, fabric and needlework — skills I learned from my loving relatives.

Reflections on Being a Jewish Woman Artist

Much of my work deals with issues of central importance to women, both past and present. Documenting and acknowledging the accomplishments and achievements of women (especially Jewish women) as well as addressing women’s issue is the focus of my work. I feel its my job to discover the names of women identified as Noah's wife, Lot’s wife or the daughters of Zelophachad and to tell the world about them. It is an important task to make visible the invisible part of the children of Israel.
